“Burn All Gays At The Stakes,” Says Polish Priest

Foundation

The parades have begun – not just any parades – these are special and feature ornaments of scantly clothed chiseled muscle hunks. 'tis the season where proponents, activists and vocal opponents are gathering and often colliding in the rituals. Internationally gays, lesbian bisexual and transgender communities take center stage hosting annual festivals honoring community diversity and advocating sexual minorities' acceptance. Among the spectators, curiosity seekers, activist and supporters at any such event a diverse montage of cultures intertwine from all walks of life. On 24 April 2008 Father Rafal Trytek, an outspoken Catholic priest, stood among neo-Nazi as Krakow, Poland's "Equality Parade" passed his view. The militant group of neo-Nazi surrounding carried sticks, stones and eggs which they threw at the parade participants. Father Rafal Trytek sprinkled "Holy Water" on the group of mostly young male militants. As several news organization reporters witnessed they event they question him about his motives and he calmly stated, "Homosexual should be burned at the stakes as in Medieval Age. I hope that these beautiful days return to our great Poland." Spewing vile "Hate Speech" under Poland's laws towards any minorities, women, ethnic or religious is punishable 3 years incarceration - except homosexuals. Mr. Szymon Niemiec, 30, gay and human rights activist, author, and original founder of "Equality Parade" presented a proposal several months ago to the newly seated (and friendlier) Human Right Minister in "Civil Platform" of Premier Donald Tusk government outlining such a change of the existing Polish "Hate-Crimes" law to include sexual minorities.

The "Friends of Szymon" Foundation was established as an advocacy organization to accomplish this and other political and social goals. Mr. Niemiec states, "In Polish society the Roman Catholic Church is still very powerful – perhaps equal to that of many centuries ago. They are also very wealthy." He also states, „The challenges before us as sexual minorities condemned for centuries by the Catholic Church are indeed difficult but not insurmountable. Poland's GLBT communities must also work on uniting ourselves or this form of radical fanaticism will continue an we'll remain as an oppressed segment of Polish society."

After the festivals and parades are concluded in Poland and other realms of worldwide communities – the GBLT suffrage continues. Perhaps some goals will remain distant and out of reach for some communities however for the sake of future generations we must unite in solidarity and make valiant attempts to change our worlds.
